Mauritius Equity Markets | 16 Sep 2015 : Bull appears on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity markets
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — The bearish mood waxed stronger on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius equity markets. The equity market capitalization closed at MUR 213.676 after losing MUR 485 million (US$13.6 million) relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 214.161 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) plunged by 0.23 percent or 4.36 points to close at 1,918.76 points and SEM10 index closed at 365.10 points after losing 0.35 percent or 1.29 points.
From the market activity viewpoint, the overall total volume trade ended at 33,643,685 (an increase relative to volume of 8,858,693 recorded on previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 102.635 million (a rise relative to MUR 44.002 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 32,198,700 (about 96 percent of total volume) at MUR 27.365 million and CIEL Limited registered 424,950 traded stocks amounted to MUR 2.847 million. Ireland Blyth had 233,529 at MUR 26.160 million and New Mauritius Hotels recorded a total volume of 179,171 shares at MUR 3.277 million. Rogers & Co Limited also recorded 162,700 shares at MUR 4.730 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, out of 23 traded securities there were 3 price gainers and 9 price losers, hence the market sentiment ends negative. B Mare Holding Limited rose by 1.82 percent to end at MUR 28.00 and Omnicane Limited ended at MUR 71.00 after gaining 1.43 percent and Lux Island Resort Limited surged by 0.40 percent to close at MUR 62.75.
Conversely, Mauritius Union Assurance Right closed at MUR 3.00 after losing 42.97 percent, Ireland Blyth Limited sagged by 2.18 percent to settle at MUR 112.00 and ENL Commercial declined by 1.72 percent to close at MUR 20.00. Rogers & Co Limited slumped by 1.36 percent to trade at MUR 29.00 and CIEL Limited slumped by 0.89 percent to end at MUR 6.70.
The DEMEX index ended at 209.18 points by adding 0.23 points or 0.11 percent. The market capitalization gained MUR 55 million to close at MUR 49.716 billion (relative to MUR 49.661 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 5.176 million exchanged in 156,493 traded securities. United Investment soared by 1.92 percent to close at MUR 13.25, Medical & Surgical rose by 1.85 percent to close at MUR 2.20 and CIEL Textile Limited advanced by 0.13 percent to trade at MUR 38.65 However, Bychemex Limited tumbled by 0.73 percent to settle at MUR 8.20 and Constance Hotel sagged by 0.27 percent to trade at MUR 36.50.
